History
A story of passion, love and genuine, indelible feelings, the kind you can still feel today by staying at our Leonardo Trulli Resort.
It was the years around the Second World War. Leonardo Cardone was doing his military service in Udine as a nurse when he fell madly in love with the General's daughter.
She, attracted by the handsome man from the south, had to renounce taking him as her husband because of the veto imposed by her family, who considered her peasant origins unworthy of the daughter of a high officer. Leonardo, heartbroken but still full of love for that beautiful woman, decided to return to his home town, Locorotondo, where he dedicated himself to building his home, in the countryside, surrounded by olive trees, vegetable gardens, aromatic herbs, vines and wheat that he himself wanted to plant and cultivate.
He did not look for and did not want to find another woman, and so he lived his entire life in solitude, pouring that renegade love into the care of the plants, into the embellishment of his dwelling, which year after year looked more and more like the palace of a lonely Prince with a broken heart.
